When to use Phi and phi?

Lowercase phi (φ) is typically used to represent the golden ratio, (1+sqrt(5))/2. Uppercase phi (Φ) is usually used to represent the reciprocal of the golden ratio, often called the golden ratio conjugate. Φ=1-φ and Φ=1/φ, which is a property that is unique to the golden ratio.
