Does The Undertaker need to beat Kane to end the feud?

One of the fundamental principles of pro wrestling has always been that the payoff of a storyline feud should be that the good guy wins in the end. I think therefore that Taker does indeed need to win the next match between the two. However, my personal preference would be that, after Taker wins, he is attacked by one or more heels and is finally saved by Kane, reuniting the Brothers Of Destruction with Paul Bearer, leading to all three being able to retire on a high at the culmination of their long storyline together.
